Ministries in the Lifeteen Mass

Our teens have the awesome opportunity to serve in different ministries or functions in the Lifeteen Mass. We are called to serve and not to be served. This is best exemplified in the Mass. Teens can choose to serve in one or more of our three ministries: Altar Server, Lector, or Usher. Teens who wish to serve will be trained in their chosen ministry and then publically initiated in the Lifeteen Mass. Once initiated, they are placed on a schedule and rotated with other teens in their respective ministries.

Ushers

Ushers, once trained, greet parishioners warmly, hand out songsheets, and show teens to the special area where teens can sit. Teen ushers often assist in the collection and assign teens to bring the gifts for the offertory.

Altar Servers

Our Lifeteen servers are trained to be the best servers for Christ. They are exposed each Sunday to serve in  a solemn liturgy complete with incense, candles, and Book of the Gospels. Our processional candles and cross require the use of gloves to protect the finish on these items so don't be surprised to see these "gloved ones."

The Lifeteen mass forms the first dimension of the Lifeteen experience. The Eucharist is the source and center of our Christian life. Without Christ we have no strength to fight the good fight against wordly seductions and temptations. Christ gives us that strength.

In the Lifeteen Mass, one really feels as if we were one with God.

"becoming someone of faith..."

"I like Lifeteen because it is a really great opportunity to become someone of faith...I love the Lifeteen Mass because the priest makes the Mass a different and exciting experience...it is not like other Masses I've been too where I fall asleep in boredom!"

Jennifer Aguirre, 15, Miami, FL

Lector

Our LIfeteen lectors are recruited from the Lifeteen Youth Ministry and trained to proclaim God's word. Training includes the spiritual dimension of lectoring, diction, the use of the microphone, eye contact, and body posture.
