FIRST YEAR PARISH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
AUGUST 10, 2003
________________________________________
Saturday, October 2, 2004 will be a day to remember for everyone who attended St. John Bosco Church’s First Anniversary celebration of our Lifeteen program! The actual anniversary is August 10, however it took close to two months to plan for the event. Close to 200 people attended the event, mostly family and friends of the Lifeteeners.
The event was held in the Parish Center. All the tables were decorated in red and yellow with a beautiful centerpiece. The stage was simple. It had the group’s Lifeteen banner in the center. All who attended were treated to a complimentary dinner service done by the teens themselves! The menu was bread, salad, rice, tortilla, and chicken breast. Quite tasty! All the teens were dressed in the group’s yellow tshirts and dark pants or skirt.
THE PROGRAM
The music ministry Shalom started us off with awesome praise and worship music. All the people were clapping and dancing. The event was hosted by Shalom’s lead singers Yolanda and Rebecca. You should have seen the amazing talent our teens displayed! The first segment had four numbers:
- The Lifeteen Choir sang two numbers: Dios es Amor and Psalm 138
- “Ojos Asi ” by Shakira was a belly dance number which featured Ana, Yanelis, Daniela, and Nidia dancing to the music
- Ronny and Isaura sang to Alex Syntek and Ana Torroja’s song, “Duele el Amor.”
- Yamil and Miriam did a lip-synch rendition of Pimpinela’s “Olvidame y Pega la Vuelta"
The second segment had six numbers.
- Elliot sang a Christianized reggaeton while Oscar breakdanced to the beat
- Four of our teens, Alex, Yamil, Ana, and Yanelis danced merengue
- Evelyn Muralles sang a cool, mello song called , “Sonrisa.”
- Four of our teens, Oscar, Marvin, Danilo, and Ronny did a choreographed breakdance
- Male Core Members Victor, Danilo, Donis, Hugo, Franklin and our own Fr. Wilfredo Sang and danced to a Christianized version of Backstreet Boys, “Larger than Life.”
Shalom sang throughout the breaks and concluded our program with awesome praise music.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
Memorable moments included the break dance numbers by the Break Dance group as they danced to smoke and strobe lights creating an amazing effect! The teens went wild! Another memorable moment was the Pimpinela act done by Yamil and Miriam. They acted and lip sang well that you almost thought they really were arguing in the song! As Shalom sang live praise music, the teens formed a train around the Parish Hall as they danced to the beat and rhythm! It was so amazing to see these teens praise God with hands uplifted impressing the crowd that attended! The merengue dance had some people dancing on the floor and having fun while at it! The night closed with a bang when the male Core members of Lifeteen came out led by a disguised Fr. Wilfredo Contreras who led the group in song and dance. All the guys wore faded jeans, white dress shirt, black tshirt, and sunglasses and danced in synch to Backstreet Boys “Larger than Life.” The teens screamed and sang to the song as smoke filled the dancing men onstage. It was a bomb of a night! All for the glory and honor of Our Savior whom our teens anxiously seek!
